I’m a Volunteer Complementary Therapist at North Devon Hospice (The Long House, Holsworthy) at their Wellbeing Days each month. It’s a role I’ve been doing since February 2016 and it’s both a privilege and a humbling experience and one I totally love!
The Long House opened in September 2015 and has provided over 3,000 sessions of care since. This ranges from one-to-one counselling and complementary therapies to family craft and nurse consultations days.
The Gazette visited the Long House in January 2017 to write an article on volunteers and so I found myself in the paper on 13th April 2017; please see link here
To raise funds for North Devon Hospice in February 2017 I held a Mini Pamper plus tea/cake fundraiser to do something small to give a little back.
Donna Henry of Mad Henry’s Vintage Tea Room co-hosted the event with me (when I was previously Back to Beauty) and we held it at her establishment, Riverside Cottage, overlooking the River Torridge (a glorious venue). We raised £200 and had had a cheque presentation published in the North Devon Journal on 13th April 2017
I was then approached by The Guardian for an interview about my work at the hospice and in care homes. The interview was published on 6th July 2018 (the interview was before I got married thus in my maiden name of Rigden) and you can read it here
